Cultural Differences Research Assignment

Cultural Differences Research Assignment
The world in which we live is extremely diverse.  An understanding of various cultures allows us the opportunity to appreciate traditions, customs and values that we may not be accustomed to.
For this assignment, you will research the customs, traditions and values of one country or culture in the following areas:
·         Food
·         Family Dynamics
·         Religion
·         Housing
·         Holidays
·         Fashion
·         One other area of interest

Criteria for the assignment:
ü  You must submit your paper via Turnitin.com. Please see me for a hand-out explaining how to do this if you are unsure.
ü  Please include an opening paragraph which briefly introduces your culture/country (can include information regarding location, population, etc.)
ü  You must write 1-2 paragraphs on each topic. The focus of this assignment is learning about another culture, as well as improving your paraphrasing skills.  This is not a formal essay; it is more an investigation of another culture.
ü  Please be sure to include an in-text citation after every thought or idea. Please visit:  http://owl.english.purdue.edu/  for more information regarding citations and format.
ü  You must include a properly formatted Works Cited (MLA) with your assignment.
ü  In a final paragraph please note any similarities or differences between this culture and your own culture.
